Full Job Description

Actively respond as part of the ERT team on site to an emergency situations such as an uncontrolled fire or release of potentially harmful substances/acids. Provide first-aid / medical care to protect lives. The Emergency Response Team will be responding with the site based fire appliance and part of a team of 4 ERT Officers.

-Taking part in ongoing training relating to all the Emergency Response Teams (ERT) customer specified requirements

-Conducting security response and security inspections to create a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors and contractors

-To communicate any security risks to team leader/ERT Manager and carry out work in a safe and diligent manner

-To be a point of contact for visitors, employees and contractors attending site (Security related duties in the gatehouse)

-Support of the sites Personal Protective Equipment provision

-To provide a professional, on site presence and assist the customer where possible,#

-Vehicles checks and searches as required.

-The post holder will be expected to comply with the department's policies and procedures at all times. These include, but are not limited to equal opportunities, confidentiality, data protection and health and safety. In order to do their job, the post holder will be trained and coached in the procedures and policies of the customers' expectations. They will be expected to familiarise themselves with the sites procedures and policies and to seek advice and guidance from the ERT Site Security Manager if required

The post holder will remain co-operative and flexible in line with the needs of the post and the customers requirements

Person Specification

-Flexible in terms of hours and shifts, available to work 12-hour shifts including days, nights, public holidays and weekends either on a set shift pattern or on a relief basis.

-Working a minimum of 48 average hours per week.

-Your shift pattern will NOT fixed pattern, the primary role of this vacancy and responsible is providing support cover for ERT and Security Officer colleagues who maybe on annual leave, sickness absence or attending training courses.

-You must be available and prepared to work days, nights and bank holidays as requested.

Pass all required security and back ground checks, willing to undergo a 5-year employment check and able to account for a full 5-year history, providing evidence of all employment, unemployment, training etc during this period in line with strict vetting criteria

-Able to provide I.D documentation proving identity, right to work and all previous and current addresses in line with strict vetting criteria

-Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

-Professional approach to all tasks

-Positive outlook, when performing either ERT or Security related duties.

-Have integrity, adaptability and dedication to role

-Proactive and willing to help and support in all situations.

Security SIA licence is a requirement

· Full clean Driving Licence.

· An in-date First Aid at Work qualification (desirable)

· Must be courteous and professional at all time, take pride in their personal appearance

· Must have an excellent work ethic, be reliable and be able to work as part of a team or independently

· Computer literate (basic)

· Committed to on-going training and development

· Fire service vocational qualifications:-

Whole-time/retained fire-fighter or industrial fire-fighter qualification

Fully trained in Breathing Apparatus to Home Office standards

· Trained in Confined Space rescue and working at height rescue (desirable)

· Current pass certificate for fire-fighter physical fitness test (treadmill test or equivalent) - desirable

· Any other requests as communicated by Mitie and as agreed with the client
