Full Job Description

This role will preferably be based in GSK HQ, UK but can also be based at strategic European locations.

This position is to provide leadership and management support, to Local Operating Company (LOC) Quality in the Emerging Markets group of LOCs, on in-market distribution to ensure compliance with GSK Quality Management System (QMS) and appropriate local regulations and align with business objectives.

The position holder is accountable to maintain an effective management oversight on LOC Quality through having in place an effective QMS and a competent LOC Quality team to support GSK Supply Chain and Commercial business. The position holder is a member of the GSK Market, Supply and Distribution Quality leadership.

In this role you will:

  • Develop the quality strategy, quality plan and quality performance measures for the Emerging Markets group of LOCs to support GSK business and drive quality improvement.

  • Maintain an effective oversight of LOC Quality operations to:


  • - Ensure licenses to operate are maintained

    - Ensure LOC inspection readiness


  • Escalate any issues to Market Supply and Distribution Quality (MSDQ) leadership team


  • Ensure an effective management review and local governance linked with Global Supply Chain governance.

  • Strengthen the business partnership with commercial operations.

  • Ensure there is adequate and competent quality resource to perform the defined scope of LOC Quality operations in compliance with GSK QMS and appropriate local regulations.

  • Develop a capable quality team to provide adequate succession for key roles.

  • Ensure proactive advocacy process with local authorities to build trust and to ensure GSK global operations are aligned with local regulations., We make and supply medicines and vaccines all around the globe and our teams own every production stage, from creating quality products at our manufacturing sites to designing effective supply forecasting and regulatory inspections; all powered by digital, data and analytics. We operate at impressive scale, producing over 2.3 billion packs of medicines and doses of vaccines in 2023.

  • Degree qualified in scientific or engineering discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge

  • Considerable Quality experience in pharma industry (manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, distribution, R&D, external supply including GDP)

  • Solid understanding of QMS, its application and business objectives

  • Proven experience interfacing and influencing senior Global Leadership team stakeholders

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Ability to lead cross functional project and/or matrix teams to an aligned strategy

  • Competent people manager and able to identify and promote talent

  • Experienced auditor, able to conduct level 2 audits and provide auditor training for self-assessments, BA/BS or Masters Degree

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Skilled in relationship building with internal / external stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
