WHAT YOU'LL DO

BCG's largest region, EMESA, spans 35+ countries in Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America, organized in geographic Systems with more than 12,000+ employees. We are seeking an EMESA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Senior Director (EMESA DEI Sr. Director) responsible for the leadership and management of DEI in the EMESA region. Oversees the direction of DEI strategy, processes and practices for EMESA, reporting into EMESA People Chair and EMESA CHRO.
Leading the dialog with the Systems, supporting them in development and delivery of programs and efforts focused on the recruitment, development and retention of diverse staff across all levels of seniority as well as running some programs on the regional level.

YOU'RE GOOD AT

1. Driving the strategic thinking and execution on the direction and objectives for EMESA DEI alongside the EMESA DEI Chair. As a first step: Reorganize the DEI function and operating model depending on the changes coming out of the REACHES program.

  • Working closely with regional People Team Senior Director and People Chair and with the leaders of the various diversity initiatives, identifying strategies, priorities and plans of action required to meet the diversity objectives and aspirations of EMESA.

  • Beyond that establish working relationships between DEI and the markets, as well as with the other people functions in the region, incl. senior stakeholders from the region as needed

  • Using expertise and knowledge of best practices to design, develop and implement regional strategic initiatives to improve the diversity of the workforce and promote an inclusive culture for all employees (e.g., regional recruiting events, conferences, Accelerate Inclusion online sessions)

  • Providing the information and tools to enable senior leaders (Regional Chair, Regional People Chair, EMESA DEI Chair and others) to champion and integrate the diversity and inclusion strategy

  • Tracking key metrics on regional and local level to measure progress on key indicators and initiatives

  • Flagging patterns and trends proactively and think through solutions

  • Understanding, diagnosing and responding to issues facing the business and the various diverse cohorts

  • Developing presentations and other materials related to communicating the strategy for diversity in EMESA


  • 2. Agenda setting with the global DEI team: be an active member and ensuring that EMESA needs are heard
  • Be closely engaged with the global DEI team on all strategic initiatives and make sure EMESA interests are reflected in global initiative

  • Be the bridge between global efforts and the regional leadership team at large bringing the global agenda to the region


  • 3. Driving change and supporting execution and ensuring effective execution of regional efforts for networks, systems and PAs
  • Recruiting: Work closely with the EMESA DEI Recruiting team, ensuring the effective recruitment of diverse populations into BCG by supporting recruiting team efforts as needed

  • Career Development: Exploring programs to ensure the individual development and success of diversity cadres

  • Affiliation: Run regional affiliation efforts (e.g., pride conferences) and work with markets to share affiliation activities across, potentially joining forces for some

  • Learning and Development: Working with L&D team, designing and delivering diversity and inclusion education and training necessary to continue to raise awareness of diversity and inclusion efforts across entire EMESA population (e.g. PL+ Women Leadership trainings) - regularly check if the trainings are still needed and up to date

  • Compliance: Coordinating with legal team on compliance topics as needed

  • Budget planning for regional activities incl network specific budgets

  • Ensure the right sizing of the DEI team for the region

  • Manage and develop the EMESA DEI team


  • 4. Managing communication efforts related to regional DEI efforts
  • Serving as the lead "voice" on diversity and inclusion in the region, advancing efforts to ensure awareness of goals and aspirations remain high

  • Developing and executing regional communication strategy for EMESA

  • Supporting internal communication efforts across a distributed set of audiences and forums/channels for communication,

  • Coordinating with the global DEI team on external communications as needed, using their material for regional communication


  • YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • A university degree or equivalent in social sciences, business, or a related field, as well as extensive experience across people topics including DEI.

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in DEI and/or People topics (ideally with 3+ years in DEI), including leadership in a professional services environment and a proven track record in a management position, leading cross-functional teams, and solving complex problems for business functions with significant business impact.

  • Background in consulting roles as a plus.

  • Fluency in English and ideally one more EMESA language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Advanced communication skills: oral, written, and active listening (including senior leadership presentations/meetings).

  • Familiarity with navigating across BCG's geographical structures, especially within EMESA, and experience working with various functions and with people at all organizational levels by setting up positive, productive, and lasting working relationships. Ideally the candidate is proven to effectively manage MDPs (Managing Director and Partner) as major stakeholders and knows the challenges of our business.

  • Empathy and inspiration in the leadership with experience in DEI, especially in the consulting team environment, but with a broader understanding of the needs of all ONE BCG groups. The candidate is known for trustworthiness and gravitas, can communicate at an equal level with senior leaders of the firm, and adapt leadership style to communicate also tough decisions.

  • Highest level of integrity.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, knowing how and when to prioritize top-level concerns while remembering to plan for future issues.

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, along with the ability to package complex topics.
