Full Job Description

The ER Manager will work closely with the Senior ER Manager and Head of Employee Relations to provide a specialist employee relations and resolution service to managers and staff across the Trust. The role will require working closely with managers and management teams to improve the standard of ER practice, ensuring that best practice is developed.
A key function of the role will be to lead on the review, development and implementation of best practice systems and processes to support a consistent, robust and excellent Employee Relations service. They will develop long-term, value-added Employee Relations processes and practices designed to enable cases to be managed in line with best practice and legal guidelines. This will also include the monitoring of ER casework and establishing and running regular KPI reports.
They will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of Employee Relations Advisors, which will include providing support and guidance on ER matters and identifying new ways of working., The role will also support the provision of first level advice on Employee Relations queries to promote a resolution based approach and to refer to the ER team where required.
Employee Relations casework
+ Support and develop an effective specialist advisory service across the range of employee relations matters ensuring the provision of professional, expert and technical guidance and support in line with policies and procedures.
+ Facilitate and lead on complex employee relations cases, advising managers on best ER practice ensuring that advice given complies with good employment practice, employment legislation and Trust-wide standard
Team Management
+ Responsible for the day to day management of the ER Advisors.
+ Manage and develop the performance and capability of the Advisors including setting performance standards, promoting regular feedback and carrying out annual appraisals.
+ Identify, undertake/implement and any relevant recruitment, development and training for the team as necessary.
+ Hold responsibility for undertaking sickness absence monitoring, return to work interviews, approval of annual leave in line with the Trusts policies and procedures
+ Responsible for overseeing the workload of the Advisors and allocating new casework appropriately.
+ Ensure that cases allocated to team members are completed to a high standard and within the appropriate timeframes.

St Helier Hospital is home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children, while Epsom Hospital is home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC). Both Epsom and St Helier hospitals have Accident and Emergency departments (A&E) and Maternity services (Obstetrics).
