Full Job Description

This would be a fantastic role for an Employment lawyer looking for great quality work while maintaining a work-life balance.

For structural balance within the team, the ideal candidate would be an Employment lawyer with around 5 to 9 years' PQE.

Whilst you will only be representing Respondent clients, lawyers with a purely Claimant background are encouraged to apply; members of the existing team have previously and very successfully made the same transition., Any references to PQE/years' experience in our adverts are included purely as a guide and should not preclude candidates who believe they have the requisite skills and experience from applying.

COMPETITIVE SALARY & BENEFITS PACKAGE + BONUS

Fantastic opportunity for an Employment lawyer to focus entirely on contentious matters for Respondent clients.

Haggerty Jaques is delighted to be instructed to recruit an experienced Employment lawyer into the thriving team of this innovative commercial law firm's Leeds office.

The Team

The team's national client base ranges from smaller limited companies to major household name brands and spans sectors such as the arts, charities, education and healthcare.

This is a very friendly and inclusive team that enjoys working together from beautifully appointed city centre offices. Lawyers within the team are office-based at least two days per week.

The Opportunity

This unique role enables an Employment lawyer to focus solely on contentious work for insured Respondent clients.

The team advises on excellent quality complex claims which often involve whistleblowing and discrimination, so this is certainly a role for a lawyer who is looking for challenging and interesting work.

There is a very strong pipeline of work and, because the team is primarily instructed by its insurer clients, no need to business-develop..

Work-life balance is a genuine offering here; whilst your days will be busy, it is the norm to be able to leave work on time.

You will have great support and supervision where needed, but no micro-management. You can expect to be able to focus your energy on advising your clients; for instance, the firm's Content and Marketing team is on hand to prepare articles for you to simply review and approve. You will also have the support of more junior members of the team, including a trainee/apprentice, paralegals and junior solicitors, as well as an Administration team.
