Full Job Description

We have the opportunity for an End User Computing Specialist to join our IT department here at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will report to the End User Computing Manager and will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and the launch of efficient operation of all End User Computing systems to support core organisational functions; this includes all Projects, Continual Service Improvement, and BAU activities.

The role includes responsibilities for:
Assisting in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new services and enhancements to existing services within End User Computing

Ownership of systems used for monitoring, backups, disaster recovery and security patching for End User Computing infrastructure

Ensure compatibility and interoperability on computing systems

Review and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving implementation decisions

Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts and service improvement activity

Proactively assist in the design and implementation of long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining End User Computing

Develop, document, communicate and enforce a policy and procedures for standardising systems and software as necessary

Show ownership of own self-development using training material and identify ways to continuously improve

Resolve issues escalated to the End User Computing team from the Service Desk and other support teams within agreed timescales

Manage, build, support and maintain all server components within the environment

Adhere to all Service Management processes (Incident, Service Request, Change, Problem CSI)

Participate in the existing 'on-call' rota to support overnight processing schedule outside normal office hours

It is essential that you have excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server, Active Directory, and ideally Exchange and/or SQL Server. You must also have excellent technical skills and knowledge in EUC (Win10, VDI on prem/cloud, profile management, user experience monitoring, endpoint management and security, all M365 technologies), in addition to excellent administration, configuration problem solving and analytical troubleshooting ability in EUC technologies. Proven experience of backup/restore packages is also essential. Working knowledge of DevOps principals and technologies such as Terraform and Ansible, and scripting languages such as Python, YAML and PowerShell would be advantageous, as would working knowledge/awareness of Agile, Kanban methodologies. We are looking for a team player with excellent time management who’s willing to participate in shift-based rota between 8:00-17:00.
