Full Job Description

To work as an effective member of the team, providing care for patients in conjunction with trained qualified nurses. Promotes excellent communication that supports the dignity and care of the patients. Assist in maintaining a safe working environment and the provision of care. To have an active role in assisting with the day-to-day management of the decontamination Room
At all times adhere to statutory, mandatory, directorate guidance and the Trust's Health Care Assistants Code of Conduct., + Cleaning and preparing endoscopes after training and in adherence to Health & Safety
+ To coordinate and mange workload in the decontamination room, ensuring sufficient endoscopes, so that the patient sessions are managed in a timely manner.
+ Maintenance of adequate supplies and assistance with the receipt and storage of goods into and out of the decontamination room.

+ In conjunction with the Manager, ensure that those working within the decontamination room are adhering to policies, practices and protocols.
+ To participate in decontamination and infection control audits.
+ To liaise with the Infection Control Department and Head of sterile Services so that best practice can be maintained and shared.
+ To liaise with Endoscopy Health and Safety representative regarding COSSH so that best practice can be maintained and shared.
+ Report equipment faults to Engineers and act upon instructions and keep all documentation.
+ Ensure all daily and weekly testing is completed in the decontamination room.
+ To take an active role in teaching decontamination techniques and practices to new Endoscopy nurses, junior doctors and theatre staff
+ Participate in the orientation of new healthcare assistants and act as role model and mentor.
