Full Job Description

Reporting into Energy Centre engineering supervisor and the Technical Manager, you will be required to carry out planned preventative maintenance on the systems of our client's energy centre in North West London.

Working as part of the Engineering Team, you will support daily engineering issues on a specific asset providing support and guidance. Responsible for providing engineering support to outage events, projects and continuous improvement initiatives. The Plant Engineer will work closely with the Commercial, Operations, Inspection, QHSE, Performance and Maintenance functions to support the overall asset plan, and ensure compliance, governance and best practice is adhered to at all times.

Main Duties

  • Positively encourage a culture of safety first. "Walk the talk", adopt and adhere to HSE and QHSE Policies, Procedures and Objectives.

  • Champion compliance with all Health Safety & Environmental legislation and statutory requirements.

  • Operate and maintain plant and equipment in a safe & controlled manner

  • Become an expert with regards to the mechanical integrity associated with the specific asset area, including pipework, rotating machines, valves, conveyers, boilers and relief streams.

  • Provide technical assistance to clients, contractors and work colleagues within sphere of operation

  • Closely manage the customer HSE objectives and Quality Standards, ensuing the adoption of Safe Working Practices during the maintenance and repair of the plant.

  • Ensure all Quality Management and Compliance Documentation for Planned Preventative maintenance and reactive repair activities is accurate and complete.

  • Provide technical assistance to clients, whilst meeting both Quality Standards and HSE Objectives.

  • Maintain plant peripherals and compile relevant documentation and records as required.

  • Complete regular efficiency checks.

  • Provide training and support to new employees as instructed by the management team

    The ideal candidate will be well presented, wearing company uniform at all times, organised and polite. This is a client & customer facing role, with excellent communication and customer service skills. You will be required to actively take part in the callout / standby rota. A full UK driving licence and a flexible approach to working practices is essential.

  • You will have a high level of technical knowledge and expertise on various types of Energy Centres and knowledge of District Heating networks. It will also be an advantage to have:

  • Excellent knowledge of PSSR Legislation.

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Experience of engineering and equipment maintenance in the plant area or similar operation.

  • Mechanical Biased with Electrical knowledge in a similar environment

  • Non-Domestic Gas or F-Gas. Working safely, training will be provided.

  • Understanding the cause and effects of inefficient Energy Centres and to implement changes to improve the efficiency of the Network.

  • Heating systems - Direct and indirect,

  • Energy Centre processes and supporting distribution systems.

  • The following Skills and Expertise will be advantageous:

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship and/or be qualified to City & Guilds / NVQ level 2 in Plumbing/HVAC with Electrical qualifications and registered to the appropriate body as required for the role.

  • Experience working within Energy Centres and repairing various components.

  • Marine engineer plant maintenance operator experience

  • Royal Navy engineering

  • Electrical qualification to the latest Edition of BS 7671 that allows you to work safely on single or 3-phase electrical systems.

  • Willingness to study for relevant Industry qualifications is essential.

  • Good customer service skills.

  • Hot Water Systems or valid unvented hot water certification.
