Full Job Description

Reporting into the Vice President of Energy Efficiency, the Energy Efficiency Engineer is tasked with quantifying the technical performance of the fleet, focusing on hotel and service consumers, and for delivering technical analysis and advice to support the improvement in energy efficiency. The Energy Efficiency Engineer is responsible for assessing technological solutions, analysing high-frequency operational data, and managing energy efficiency related projects. You will also advise on required changes to the operation of our ships to foster energy efficiency and fuel consumption reduction, working closely with shore-based stakeholders and ship staff.

  • Manages projects related to energy efficiency and emission reduction on board the fleet, with a particular focus on the hotel and service functions (e.g. power generation efficiency, electrical load management including HVAC/galleys/lighting/auxiliary machinery, heat recovery, and thermal load management)
  • Supports the company in choosing the best technological solutions related to energy efficiency and decarbonisation to be adopted on new ships, retrofitted on the fleet in service, or installed in the terminals
  • Maintains and further develops the company's decision support systems and performance monitoring tools, provides input for the development and maintenance of the fleet's energy baselines/digital twins, build meaningful dashboards and analytics providing insight on hotel and auxiliary load performance
  • Advises on necessary changes in operation of existing ships to enhance energy efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and associated emissions based on insights obtained from analytical tools and/or onboard audits
  • Participates in R&D projects on energy efficiency and decarbonisation
  • Assists on several projects at once by virtue of prioritising effectively and complete them within the required timeframe through effective time management
  • Supports all departments to achieve common targets as per the company's strategy
  • Occasionally travel on board or ashore for trainings, audits or for technical projects.
  • The existing right to work in the UK is preferred.
