Full Job Description

The Energy Manager will play a key role in shaping and implementing the University's energy strategy and roadmap to net zero carbon, working closely with the Head of Compliance and Sustainability as part of the Compliance and Sustainability team. Covering all campuses and buildings, the role is integral to improving energy performance across the institution and fostering sustainability within the wider community.

A key responsibility of the post holder will be to provide high-quality information that supports utility management and the University's decarbonisation efforts. This includes ensuring the institution retains its ISO14001 accreditation and continuously works to reduce its carbon footprint while enhancing energy efficiency.

The Energy Manager will be responsible for managing the energy performance of all university buildings, which includes collecting, analysing, and auditing data to enable accurate and effective reporting. They will collaborate closely with the maintenance team to optimise the Building Management System (BMS) and provide critical information to the Projects team to support new developments, including soft landings-ensuring energy-efficient operations post-construction.

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree or equivalent qualification. You will have demonstrable experience working in Energy Management within large estates or organisations with a significant property portfolio, showcasing your ability to handle the complexities of large-scale energy operations.

A key responsibility will be the management of significant revenue budgets, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively to support the organisation's energy and sustainability goals. Additionally, you will have experience in managing large and complex data sets, with the ability to analyse and interpret data for decision-making.

Strong written communication skills are essential, as the role requires the ability to produce clear and concise reports and articles, effectively communicating energy performance, strategies, and outcomes to stakeholders at all levels.
