Full Job Description

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week With the responsibility for collection of approximately £1 billion of business rates, council tax and business improvement district levies, this is an exciting opportunity to join the Revenues team and make a significant contribution to the service. We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Team Manager to lead our newly created enforcement team of Revenues Officers and Enforcement Agents. The team will focus on debt recovery and maximising income. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders in a collection focused environment to join the Revenues Service as a Team Manager. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to lead and motivate the team, present and explain information to a variety of audiences and have a strong understanding of Revenues legislation. This is a challenging position that requires the successful candidate to recognise the needs of the Council to maximise income whilst maintaining its obligations in respect of vulnerable citizens.

You will ideally need

  • experience and knowledge of local taxation law and practice
  • an understanding of the Taking Control of Goods Regulations
  • excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills
  • the ability to understand and clearly explain complex rules
  • to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
