Full Job Description
You will be joining a supportive and enthusiastic team responsible for the enforcement of debt, specifically targeting cases that have been returned from an Enforcement Agent (Bailiff) as unsuccessful. The focus is on those who 'won't pay' rather than 'can't pay'. Appropriate action in these cases can include committal to prison proceedings, insolvency action and application for charging orders. The team are also responsible for issuing County Court claims, the management of an insolvency caseload, including complex incoming cases and providing specialist advice., Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer. We are looking for a dedicated, motivated individual who demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and excellent communication skills who can work as part of a team and are able to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines with conflicting demands., This role is customer facing and you are required to speak to members of the public, the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. You must be able to demonstrate confidence, as presenting cases at both County Court and Magistrates Court is an integral part of the role. From day one you will receive full training, support, and mentoring, not only from your managers but also from your colleagues. Hybrid working is available upon completion of training., You should have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or Level 2/3 and relevant experience of collection/recovery/enforcement processes for Council Tax, Business Rates and/or sundry debt or working in a financial services/support environment.
