Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week
The Community Protection Unit requires an innovative and 'can do' officers to deliver a range of Council enforcement and intervention activities to bring about local improvements for our communities.
The Community Protection Unit deals with Environmental Health and Anti-Social Behaviour issues on a Neighbourhood Area basis both proactively and in response to high level of customer service demand. The service also operates highly successful Selective and Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMO), Licensing schemes for private rented housing in key parts of the Borough. This is the core of the work which this post will deliver.
You will be expected to manage your own workload, which will focus on the administration of the housing licensing function, creating reports and monitoring scheme finances. It will also include criminal investigations, direct communications with landlords and supporting Environmental Health Officers and Community Protection Officers.
As part of the Community Protection team, the post requires you to have strong local community commitment and ability to participate and deliver actions to make a difference.
Support in other work areas will be required from time to time, and some work outside normal office hours will be required. There is an opportunity participate in the standby and an out of hour's rota.
You must be enthusiastic, a good team worker with commitment, flexibility, and with a capability of working on your own initiative.
You will need to demonstrate positive skills in establishing and developing productive working relationships and also deliver against personal and team targets., Additional training will be provided to ensure the right candidates have the skills to do the job effectively.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year.
