Within the Life Sciences team, we are hiring Engagement Managers to lead on strategy engagements across a range of Biopharmaceutical clients.

Joining this team as an Engagement Manager gives the right candidate the opportunity to accelerate their career in Life Sciences strategy. The nature of the role demands a hybrid skill set that combines commercial strategy, qualitative and quantitative rigour to problem solving, with strong creative intuition and a growth can-do mindset.

As an Engagement Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in all of the firm's work. EY-Parthenon has a very flat structure which will allow you to become actively involved in many levels of client work. You will often be the primary contact for clients, responsible for developing and executing work plans, and managing associates. Given the demands of such an accelerated role, your skills as a consultant are highly tuned in the areas of analytics, communications, teamwork, and leadership.

Internally, you will have leadership responsibilities in areas like recruiting, training, professional development, etc. In addition, you typically will get involved in key strategic initiatives such as the establishment of new practice areas and the generation of proprietary intellectual capital.

As an Engagement Manager, you manage the day-to-day delivery of the project and are the first point of contact for clients, managing teams of between 1 - 5 consultants depending on the project requirements. You will have the responsibility for developing the recommendations that will ultimately be implemented by our clients, whilst also contributing to and growing EY-Parthenon's business through internal practice building and contributing to new business development. You will have opportunities to learn from a wide variety of senior team members through counselling relationships, mentoring, and coaching. The Work

Our current work is typically focused on applying our deep sector & strategy knowledge to various types of strategic projects, including:

  • Disease area strategy

  • Product and business unit strategy development

  • Market access & pricing strategy

  • Market entry strategy and opportunity sizing

  • Medical affairs strategy

  • Commercial due diligence

  • Business development and licencing


  • You'll work with a high-performing, integrated team which focuses on a variety of global and local corporate clients and private equity clients. You'll have a diverse range of stretching experiences which will give you continuous learning and development opportunities as well as a great sense of achievement.

    You Key Responsibilities

    You will lead your teams in:
  • Independently performing primary and secondary research including data gathering, interviews, and surveys

  • Planning and developing analytics, both qualitative and quantitative

  • Developing 'the story' - the output to narrate the solution to the client's problem - including written output (slides)

  • Developing business development proposals and delivering pitches

  • Managing relationships with client stakeholders

  • Fostering an inclusive culture throughout the team and within engagements

  • Developing a community within the team - volunteering to support to develop an offer, or other internal practice build initiatives such as Learning, Operations, Resourcing, Recruitment, etc.

  • Counselling Senior Consultants and Consultants to provide career direction and guidance

  • Experience in Biopharmaceuticals - ideally gained from another consulting environment and/or a Global Pharmaceutical and Med Tech organisation

  • Experience in managing senior clients and deliver engagements independently

  • Ability to drive business development through leading proposal development, delivering pitches and building long lasting client relationships

  • Experience in working in two or more of the core commercials areas: Commercial Strategy; Pricing, Reimbursement and Market Access; Digital Therapeutics; RWE and Innovative Contracting.

  • Experience in conducting primary market research with healthcare practitioners, payers, and patients

  • Comfort in a strategic consulting role and experience with a client-facing position in an agency/consulting environment, including leading client workshops and developing and delivering strategic and tactical recommendations

  • Experience working in global multidisciplinary teams and across regions/countries


  • Ideally, you'll also have

  • Preferably hold a PhD (preferred but not mandatory), MBA, Masters in Health Economics, Health Policy and/or Pharmaceutical Sciences

  • Ability to write to a high standard, fluent/native in English with additional major languages desired

  • Experience working in key therapeutic areas such as oncology, immunology, neurology, cardiovascular diseases etc.
