Full Job Description

The Cluster is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and all appointments will be subject to appropriate vetting, including an enhanced DBS disclosure check.

We are looking to appoint a highly skilled practitioner to work flexibly within our SEND Cluster 4.5 (Hanham, Kingswood and Longwell Green area). We currently have 18 Primary and 5 Secondary schools within our Cluster. We feel an additional Engagement Worker would be hugely successful in helping to lower fixed-term and permanent exclusions as well as raise SEND outcomes for some of our most vulnerable learners. We are willing to look at training the right candidate if they meet the criteria below. If you feel you have a caring ethos and nurturing personality, we are looking for a committed person who:

  • have a proven ability to support pupils with additional needs, including those with SEMH and an avoidant profile;
  • has knowledge of sensory processing needs and experience in auditing school environments to support these children
  • have experience of working with children outside of the class room on a 1:1 basis as well as integrating children back into mainstream classes;
  • are committed to the well-being of all children;
  • are committed to developing pupils' independence;
  • can help to develop social skills and establish positive relationships with children and adults;
  • champion vulnerable children;
  • loves their job and puts children's needs at the heart of every decision they make.

  • support pupils across the primary and secondary schools;
  • be able to works towards individual targets.
