Full Job Description

️ Our new Senior or Principal Engineer will get the opportunity to work for very high profile clients and as part of a highly motivated professional multidisciplinary team working on some of the most important infrastructure projects in Europe. You will have the opportunity to work across the UK or even overseas on short assignments. ️ With a variety of projects across many different sectors, no two days will be the same and you could get exposure to projects within energy, defence, maritime, transportation, utilities and the built environment. ️ With your knowledge in construction materials and corrosion control, you will be one of our Subject Matter Experts assessing existing assets, helping in the design of new assets and planning for future durability. ️ Working closely with colleagues within Durability & Materials (currently a team of 10), you'll deliver services, including preparing proposals and delivering presentations.

Are you a Senior or Principal Engineer, degree qualified in Materials / Corrosion science with direct experience in consultancy work and project delivery in the construction industry?, At Senior or Principal level, you should possess a broad understanding of materials principles and processes gained through lab, research or site experience. You will also have an understanding of inspection and testing processes and implications. Using your knowledge and experience of paints/coatings and steel, you'll predominantly provide technical input into relevant inspections, failure analysis and repair options to provide practical solutions. You will also be involved with the broader corrosion mitigation strategies and material specification / selection of projects. This position is not focused on Cathodic Protection (CP) but additional qualifications and skills in that area will be beneficial. You'll have to possess and demonstrate: ️ Knowledge of coating and painting offshore and onshore facilities and structures, predominantly as part of the UK framework ️ Experience in preparing materials, paints and coatings specifications for new design and refurbishment projects ️ Understanding in materials selection and corrosion mechanisms affecting major infrastructure including highways, bridges, ports, major flood barriers and tunnels ️ Awareness of welding and associated corrosion/ materials issues ️ CAD experience ️ Bachelor or Masters Degree in Materials / Corrosion Science and relevant Consultancy experience and/or be willing to further develop your career on this field In addition, you will have a strong CPD record in relevant areas, or H&S qualifications, such as CSCS card, and be willing to work towards confined space training and sea survival training. Desirable, but not essential, is membership of relevant professional institutions and working towards chartered status.

  • Due to the nature of some of the works we are involved with, eligibility for CT and SC clearance is required.
