Full Job Description

  • As an environmental specialist you will be involved in a wide range of environmental activities with responsibility for gathering, assessing and reporting the environmental information that will help demonstrate the environmental case for each submarine including:
  • Supporting system owners with design of systems
  • Undertaking environmental impact and risk assessments
  • Collating evidence and producing documents to support the environmental case
  • Supporting net zero and carbon management/footprinting activities
  • Stakeholder engagement across organisations and disciplines to ensure that the customer requirements for the platform are met

    Understanding of sustainability and environmental requirements in the context of product design.
  • Understanding of environmental assessment and identification of environmental aspects across the lifecycle
  • Ability to evaluate environmental and technical data
  • Understanding of net zero and carbon management/footprinting
  • Report writing/presentation skills and ability to effectively convey environmental information
  • Degree or equivalent in Environmental or Sustainability related discipline
  • Desirable
  • Broad understanding of one or more of the following: Environmental Management Systems, Materials Technology, Environmental Legislation, Disposal and/or Net Zero
