Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an Engineer to join our Schemes & Major Maintenance team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified graduate or if you have the relevant technical skills and aptitude to pursue a career in civil engineering.

Highways Schemes and Major Maintenance provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in the workplace. We currently have a major Liverpool City Region and HBC funded capital programme working in collaboration with both internal and external partners as well as a substantial Highway maintenance programme.

As an Engineer you will prepare and implement minor highway improvement and capital schemes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

Are you undertaking a Higher National Diploma level or have equivalent technical experience in an engineering or transportation discipline; or possess equivalent experience within a local authority or organisation of comparable complexity.

With project management experience, you will have the ability to monitor and manage budgets and build and maintain positive relationships with a range of stake holders to ensure the successful delivery of schemes.

You will have a broad knowledge of construction methods, materials, and practices, plus a knowledge of Approved Codes of Practice, highway standards, and health and safety, to enable effective design and supervision of highway improvement and maintenance projects.

In addition, you will have knowledge of the relevant design standards and specifications for highway schemes as well as the ability to design directly to CAD.
