Full Job Description

Financial Systems Solutions (FSS) develops and supports a number of the Bank's critical services. Within FSS itself, Integration Operations (IO) has responsibility for providing level 2 support (on a 24x5 basis) and small change development for the Bank's middleware applications. This position will involve supporting our middleware platform. Operational support capability is essential. Middleware technologies experience is desirable but not essential. The role provides room for learning and development in new skills, and provides a pipeline for progression to reflect personal development., The candidate will be expected to:

  • Use their operational experience and capability to support the Bank's production and UAT middleware systems, monitoring performance and ensuring full and rapid problem resolution with particular emphasis on the Bank's middleware platforms.

  • Provide out of hours support, including Bank holidays, for operational systems on a rota basis.

  • Coordinate operational activity for a set of systems/services.

  • Apply analytical and problem solving skills to incidents, requests and problems (as defined by ITIL)

  • Triage calls as they arrive, making initial assessments around impact and priority.

  • Minimise the amount of calls that require 3rd line support.

  • Evaluate business requirements and produce estimates, solutions and functional specifications for small-scale development activity.

  • Share knowledge, contribute to technical discussions and assist other team members.

Salary and Benefits InformationWe encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. This role offers a salary of circa £44,800 - £50,400. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

  • A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.

  • An understanding of networks, network storage, network components and TCP/IP Knowledge of security principles such as public/private key architecture and encryption

  • Knowledge of transfer protocols such as FTP, SFTP and SSH Knowledge of IBM MQ version 8 or later.

  • Knowledge of Managed File Transfer tools Knowledge of IBM TX (WTX) version 7.5 or later

  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows servers Scripting/procedural coding and management of configuration files
