Reporting to the Vice President, the Engineer, Technical Sales role melds technical engineering expertise with business acumen to drive sales and expand the use of CAST CONNEX products and services around the world. They serve as the conduit of information and critical link to our engineering team. They lead the way in inspiring Architects, Engineers, and Construction Professionals to rethink the use of cast steel components. They communicate compelling value propositions to project stakeholders by simplifying technical jargon into clear benefits in project delivery through design, construction, and completion. With an unwavering commitment to understanding and providing innovative solutions, our Technical Sales team fosters long term trusted relationships, is relied upon for their expertise and experience, and transforms architectural, structural, and constructability challenges into solutions. The primary focus of the UK-based role will be on projects designed within UK and Europe and built throughout the world. About You Our ideal Engineer, Technical Sales is,

  • Position Details and Requirements:
  • Introduce CAST CONNEX's unique products and services to clients in the AEC industry and, through a consultative sales process, present thoughtful solutions by discovering their needs, building a strong value proposition, and guiding product specification opportunities.
  • Actively foster new and existing relationships while providing technical support at any stage of design, ensuring a match between the product capabilities and customer requirements.
  • Provide pre-tender technical assistance and product education, and post-tender customer support.
  • Prospect construction market intelligence and existing contact database for potential product applications.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute strategic sales plans & project pursuit strategies and identify emerging markets and market trends.
  • Provide input on product development and innovation based on market trends.
  • Generate brand awareness, create new leads, prospect opportunities, and foster new and existing relationships while exhibiting at tradeshows across UK and EU
  • Develop and maintain a sales opportunity pipeline with a sense of timelines and estimated probabilities to support forecasting efforts.
  • Manage and maintain CRM database including entering and progressing project opportunities through sales pipeline and maintaining and expanding contact database.
  • Regularly deliver technical presentations about the benefits and value of our products through face-to-face and virtual meetings, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) presentations and webinars.
  • Collaborate with the internal marketing team to ensure sales collaterals are compliant, complete, and current.
  • Work with the internal engineering team as necessary to ensure quality service delivery to clients, address client requirements, and provide bespoke or pre-designed solutions.
  • Provide pricing to project stakeholders from early design development through post contract award phases and ultimately secure purchase orders.
  • Set and manage an annual budget for sales activities (CPD presentations, regional events, regional sponsorships, etc.)
  • Strong foundation in the fundamentals of structural engineering and structural steel design per Eurocode 3., Identify and communicate problems and provide input for solutions.
  • Participate in the quality process and act as a customer advocate.

Our events, publications and training address structural engineers' need for both a firm grasp of fundamentals and the profession's increasing specialisation.

  • Focused experience in steel connection design, seismic design, and steelwork contracting is an asset.
  • Demonstrated capability in client interfacing and effective relationship-building skills with designers and construction professionals.
  • Internally motivated with excellent organizational skills and a proven ability to self manage and multi-task, while also maintaining the ability to ask for and receive support as needed.
  • Knowledge of products, services, and manufacturing processes to confidently support client inquiries.
  • Ability to assess and analyze opportunities and propose or develop ideas and creative solutions.
  • Responsiveness and proactiveness in contacting clients and customers.
  • Demonstratable experience in public speaking and/or teaching experience (particularly in engineering, science, or architecture).
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to report and update management on sales cycle and cost/budget progress.
  • Continual Improvement:
  • Participate in and support improvement efforts focused on business performance., Minimum 4-year accredited degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural Engineering or related field. Advanced degree is a strong plus though not a requirement.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in structural engineering. Candidates with advanced degrees are not held to this minimum.
  • Understanding of the project delivery process in the AEC Industry.
  • Previous technical sales experience is considered an asset but is not a requirement.
  • Technology: Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD, BIM, and FEA software packages. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Adobe/Bluebeam. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Active member or leadership role in AEC industry organizations an asset.
  • Legally eligible to work in the UK ("Right to Work")
