Full Job Description

A position has become available for a Data Analyst placement student at Caterpillar Marine, located in Wimborne within the Caterpillar Oil, Gas & Marine division. The team has responsibility for developing services and tools for Emissions reduction and tracking as well as deployment of emissions upgrades to our existing population. This role will focus on the analysis of product and performance data to enable customer insights to meet their sustainability goals. Data Science placements offer placement students real life data analysis experience in a customer focused environment. This includes a financial incentive and the potential of a summer work placement. Offers will be made based on the condition that a graduate role is available at the time of your graduation and that you achieve a min of 2:2. Job duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Explore, Transform, combine multiple large datasets
  • Analyse large datasets from performance and emissions data
  • Draw insights from connected asset data.
  • Programmatically analyse data for trends and patterns applying scientific principles and calculations.
  • Create Visuals and reports in data analysis tools (Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Applicants will be on target to achieve a minimum of 2:2 honours degree level in Computer Science.

Caterpillar, Wimborne The facility provides a UK base for Caterpillar Marine supporting a range of products and services globally for the entire Marine product range with supporting functions for product lifecycle & sustainability, governmental strategy and global marketing. The manufacturing facility boasts an end-to-end business covering the complete product lifecycle, developing and providing solutions for commercial, professional and military customers. From the design, testing and building, each engine is proven before leaving the premises to ensure the best performance for the end-user. The products range up to 500 bhp for propulsion engines and 200 ekW for our gensets.

    Salary : £22,450, Share Scheme, Pension, Flexible working, and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
