A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Data Engineering team manager to join the Personalised Experiences and Communications Platform within product engineering multi-functional teams. As the head of data, you'll be responsible for delivering the highest quality data capability, demonstrating your engineering expertise while embracing the opportunities provided by the cloud. In this role, you'll lead data engineering teams to deliver high-quality data pipelines for personalized experiences for our twenty-six million customers and users. You'll collaborate with the head of engineering, product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define and implement the software engineering squads' roadmap, scope, and work. Additionally, you'll mentor and coach the data engineering squad, identify and resolve technical issues, deliver technical solutions for multiple entities, define data models and contracts, create automation tools, and drive a culture of high-quality, secure software delivery. You'll also help adopt best engineering practices and foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity. - Hands-on proven experience of delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.
- Proven experience and knowledge of automation and CI/CD
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, such as Python, Java,.
- Experience in working with large-scale data sets, data pipelines, and cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience in using distributed systems and event driven architecture.
- Practical experience of Cloud native solutions
- Advanced knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS.
- Strong experience working with Kafka technologies.
- Computer science fundamentals: a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns and core programming concepts.
- Good understating of cloud storage, networking, and resource provisioning
- Experience of hiring and recognising and emerging talent. And any experience of these would be really useful:
- Certification in GCP "Cloud Architect", "Cloud Developer", "Professional Data Engineer"
- Certification in Apache Kafka (CCDAK)
- Strong experience in data analysis
