Full Job Description

This position, reporting directly to the board of directors, involves overseeing engineering projects focused on implementing new plant installations, enhancing automation, and ensuring the completion of all maintenance tasks. The role of Engineering Manager requires leadership of an engineering team, with responsibilities including managing internal workloads and coordinating with external contractors. Additionally, the individual will be tasked with generating feasible project plans, overseeing purchasing to meet these plans, and keeping all relevant departments informed of engineering project developments. Engineering Manager Responsibilities Project Management

  • Lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against these plans
  • Plant and Machinery Installation
  • Oversee the installation of plant and machinery, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to troubleshoot and resolve installation issues
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance
  • Contractor Management
  • Evaluate, select, and manage contractors for engineering projects
  • Ensure that contractors adhere to project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Resolve issues and conflicts with contractors in a timely and effective manner
  • Engineering Team Management
  • Build and lead a high-performing engineering project team
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and learning and development
  • Identify and support team members' professional development needs, including conducting 1-2-1 reviews and providing constructive feedback
  • Working Cross-Functionally
  • Work closely with various departments to ensure alignment of engineering project goals with overall company objectives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and coordinate with different teams to implement changes

    A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline would be advantageous
  • Further education and/or training in project management is preferred, Proven experience in project management, particularly in plant and machinery installation
  • Demonstrated success in contractor management and team leadership
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and quality standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders
  • A good communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Has a collaborative approach and is able to nurture a positive team environment
