Full Job Description
As an Engineering Supervisor, you are the lead engineer for the shift. You will be expected to supervise the workload of your team to meet the day-to-day engineering tasks and activities required to ensure line performance is at its maximum and work closely with the operational team to improve site OEE. You will be expected to escalate breakdowns in a timely manner and inform the Engineering Shift Manager of the completion of work on any escalated incident. You will be expected to work closely with the Engineering Management team to contribute and assist with the development of our people, processes, and systems to deliver reliable and stable performance of the Engineering function. In periods of absence, you will deputise for the Engineering Shift Manager. - Supervising the engineers and apprentices to ensure application of Health and Safety and Food Safety standards to all work undertaken and ensure engineering standards are upheld.
- Mentor and support the team and ensure targets/KPI's are clearly communicated, understood and achieved.
- Ensure all your team members are trained to complete the tasks required and where not work closely with the Engineering Shift Manger to upskill the engineers.
- Ensure all machinery/equipment meets site standards and all sub conditions are dealt with or escalated accordingly.
- Oversee and supervise the day-to-day activities of the machine minders acting as a point of contact for any queries.
- To assist with completing the teams' appraisals and any feedback given is honest and constructive.
- Demonstrate and encourage the team to follow the FOOD behaviours.
- Oversee and supervise the Health and Safety of external contractors on site when required and ensure those areas are clean and tidy upon completion.
- Deputise in the absence of the Engineering Shift Manager, attending all daily production meetings and escalating any matters to the relevant management.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of management and all departments in relation to any engineering activities and breakdowns where required.
- Supporting with all accident investigations / near miss reports are carried out to company standards.
- Ensure your team is fully compliant with tool checks, training and any legal requirements required for the operational actions required of the role.
- Be proactive on company standards and lead by example ensuring all the team follow the rules of the site.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards across all engineering areas.
- Supervising your team members to ensure works are completed correctly adding as much information as required for the task.
- Ensure all PPM work is completed on time and any follow-on work to book to the system for planning purposes.
- Ensure all work orders put on hold awaiting parts have parts ordered against them and ensure the parts ordered are reasonable for the work required this helps drive budget cost reductions.
- Ensure where required all Permits are correct and the standards are maintained so all staff and contractors are working in a safe manner.
- Support the Engineering Shift Manager in delivery of the KPI drivers - PPM, Downtime, Reactive maintenance time, Control of budgets and costs, Projects, Training, and development of the team.
Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in either Electrical Engineering or Maintenance Activities or equivalent qualification - An experienced Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience within a similar role.
- Have a solid understanding of operation/function and repair of all machinery on site and plant and associated equipment.
- Excellent Organisational skills
