Full Job Description

  • Manage HyFIVE systems team (including, safety, certification, system and design engineers) working with in close cooperation with Programme Director, Chief Engineer and Systems Engineering Team

  • Manage and maintain system architecture work-stream budgets, schedule and performance reporting, including forecasting resource requirements, identifying and managing programmatic and technical risk

  • Responsible for development of HyFIVE scalable system architecture, considering integration with hydrogen power and propulsion systems

  • Ensure that system and architectural requirements are captured, managed and developed

  • Responsible for supporting the ground functional demonstration of a hydrogen fuel system architecture

  • Provide technical support to regulatory and safety discussions with governing bodies (CAA/FAA/EASA/ EUROCAE/SAE).

  • Work alongside legal and procurement organisation to oversee related subcontracts to ensure on time, on cost and on quality delivery to the project


  • How You'll Contribute

  • Engineering Degree

  • Experience in engineering and/or technical programme/project management

  • Experience in leading a team and work package management

  • Knowledge of the Product Lifecycle Management or Technology Readiness Assessment Processes


  • Desirable:
  • Experience as a systems engineer or architect, ideally of fuel/fluid or liquid hydrogen systems

  • Experience in requirements based engineering (e.g. CodeBeamer, DOORs Next)

  • Experience in Functional systems development (e.g. SPARX EA, Ansys SCADE Architect/Suite and or Rhapsody)

  • Experience in safety assessment, including FHA, FTA, FMEA/FMECA etc. and ARP4754 and 4761 and their application

  • Experience in multi-domain physical modelling (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink etc.).

  • CS25 and/or CS-E Product Certification

  • Understanding of aircraft design and the impact upon systems architectural development and vice versa

  • Aerospace in-service support experience

  • Experience of working within an R&D environment with a focus on delivery to industry

    We are seeking to recruit an Engineering Team Lead to lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a scalable Hydrogen Fuel Systems Architecture for the ATI-funded HyFIVE Programme. You will be accountable to the Chief Engineer for technical delivery and to the Programme Director for meeting time and cost targets. Experience with agile systems engineering is beneficial.

    Inspire and lead your team, manage external stakeholders, and collaborate across functions and geographies. Contribute to a ground breaking project aimed at achieving net-zero green aviation, making a significant impact on the future of sustainable aviation.

    Please note, this role will require you to be on site in Bristol 3 days per week.
