Full Job Description

We are a small, independent, specialist school, offering education to students with special educational needs, including: social, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties from age eleven through to sixteen years of age.
Now in our second year of operation and with a growing cohort, we now find ourselves in the position of needing to increase our staff team. Therefore, we are currently looking to add an enthusiastic and self motivated English Teacher to our team. You will need to be able to plan and teach lessons across KS3 and 4, up to GCSE Level.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to help grow the school and shape your subject.
At maximum capacity, the school will have just ten children on roll. You will be working with children, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. Our smaller, more personal setting provides an environment where our learners can thrive and succeed in a warm, safe space.
The school's objective is to cultivate 'resilience in learning and life'. This is the primary goal of our teaching, learning and curriculum. We offer a holistic pedagogy, which empowers our learners in their academic, cultural, emotional and social development across the whole curriculum. Although all learners follow the National Curriculum, within this framework, as a subject specialist you will have autonomy and freedom to create and deliver a scheme of work that is both relevant to your learners and compliments your teaching style whilst remaining 'in line' with the school's values and ethos.
Last January, we received our first Ofsted inspection and were very pleased to be awarded a rating of Good.

For the above role, a teaching qualification is desirable. However, for the right candidate, relevant teaching experience in a similar role and SEN environment would be considered more important.
The role will be demanding and challenging, but very rewarding.
You will need excellent communication skills, self-motivation, flexibility, effective time management, and the ability to work as part of a close-knit team. An understanding of the ethos of the school and the ability to work within this ethos in order to support and develop all learners regardless of ability, education, behaviour, social or emotional needs.
The successful candidate will have a direct impact on pupil's lives, raising aspirations and improving opportunities for our young people.
