Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English Language and Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4. Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging and challenging lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum and inspire students to develop a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking.
  • Creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment that fosters students' appreciation for language and literature, and encourages them to express themselves effectively.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and implementing differentiated learning strategies to cater to the needs of all learners.
  • Contributing to the development and enrichment of the English curriculum, including the selection of texts and resources.
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues and participating in departmental and whole-school initiatives.

    A thriving secondary school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Lambeth is seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their successful English department. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in January 2025., A degree in English or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • A strong understanding of the KS3 and KS4 English Language and Literature curriculum.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for English.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a classroom and create a positive learning environment.
