Full Job Description

The Enhanced Care Assistant (ECA) will provide a full range of observation, interaction and support to patients on a one to one basis whilst maintaining respect for the individuality, confidentiality and dignity of the patient.

They will be able to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members to ensure therapeutic relationship building and a consistently high standard of Enhanced Care is delivered to individual patients following the assessment and planning of person-centred care by a Registered Nurse.

You will be required to hold meaningful conversations and assist patients with meaningful activities, to help alleviate the distress or anxiety caused by their hospital admission. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our new Enhanced Care team.

The Enhanced Care Team has been developed to enable us to provide additional support to patients who require it. In this role you will provide Enhanced Care to individual patients who have complex health and social needs within an inpatient ward environment or department as directed by a Registered Health practitioner., In return for your commitment, you will become a key part of a dynamic, professional and supportive 24/7 team committed to providing high standards of care and on-going training and development. You will work under the direction of the Leadership Team, with access to regular peer and individual supervision. Successful candidates will participate in a comprehensive trust induction to help enhance your skills and knowledge.

We are looking for passionate individuals who are able to demonstrate empathy, person-centred care and the ability to cope in challenging situations. Good communication and escalation avoidance skills are essential.

Knowledge, experience and awareness of the needs experienced by people living with mental health and/or cognitive impairment and skills to initiate therapeutic interventions are preferred.

Training in enhanced care, validation technique, conflict resolution, understanding of mental health and cognitive impairment, legal implications of Liberty Protection Standards and the use of safe holding and breakaway technique as a last possible safeguarding resort, will be available for those involved in providing enhanced care.
