The role as a Police Staff Enquiry Officer is to ensure that statements and requests to collect digital media are undertaken on behalf Met Prosecution Traffic (MO10), following requests from the Collision Investigation & Prosecution Teams (CIPT) case managers. All enquiries are to be completed following correct procedures and policies. Enquiry officers conduct enquiries and collect digital media on behalf of office-based staff to assist in the investigation of road traffic collisions. Their ability to conduct these enquiries in a professional and sensitive manner will enhance the reputation of the MPS and increase customer satisfaction. This direct interaction with victims and witnesses can also reduce the numbers of complaints received.,

  • The role holder requires a full driving licence; a vehicle is provided for the execution of their duty, however on occasion public transport will also be required to be used, any additional costs will be reimbursed., Enquiry officers work full time Monday to Friday but are awarded an 8.5% shift allowance to enable an earlier start/later finish time. Duties will be on a rota, working alongside other colleagues.
  • Enquiry Officers liaise with Police Officers, Police Staff, and other agencies during the execution of their duties. They will undertake interviews with victims, witnesses and defendants involved in road traffic collisions. There is a need for attention to detail in accurate and legible correspondence as they will be taking evidential statements that will be potentially used in court. There is an expectation that they may be required to attend court to present evidence. Training will be given. However, this role would be suitable for members of the police family or retired officers. The role holder requires a full driving licence; a vehicle is provided for the execution of their duty, however on occasion public transport will also be required to be used, any additional costs will be reimbursed.

    Salary: £35,940 to £38,072 plus a disturbance allowance of 8.5% which includes allowances totalling £2,841. You will receive £30,507 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £32,639 will be via incremental progression. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841, a disturbance allowance of 8.5%, and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
