Full Job Description

You'll lead a team of technical experts preparing evidence and testing approaches to support design and delivery of future agriculture policy. You will be encouraged to be an inquisitive leader to deliver positive improvement for agriculture, driving innovation in your team and more widely.

Some knowledge of agricultural regulation is desirable, but not essential.

The team

You will be part of the Agriculture and Land team in the Environment and Business Directorate. We are passionate about agriculture and work alongside others to deliver good environmental outcomes and better regulation in the sector.

Experience/skills Required

You will:

  • Be politically astute with excellent communication and networking skills that enable you to establish strong and influential relationships with internal and external partners to promote and enhance the Environment Agency's goals and reputation.

  • Have experience of informing and influencing government departments or stakeholders.

  • Have strong leadership skills, an inclusive approach and the ability to harness ideas and support from others to help you take ideas forward.

  • Understand the environmental sensitivities and impacts associated with regulation of agriculture and be able to develop approaches accordingly.


  • You'll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
