Full Job Description

We have a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an Environment & Sustainability Performance Manager to serve as the primary liaison between the Sizewell C Client (including the Civils Work Programme, Environmental Consenting and Assurance Function, ESG and Radiation Strategy Directorate, and the Site Delivery Team) and the Civils Works Alliance. This role focuses on Environmental Compliance, Sustainability, and Consenting (including the Development Consent Order). In this role you will ensure that all Environmental & Sustainability Commitments and Requirements specified by the Sizewell C Client are incorporated into the Alliance Arrangements and Design arrangements to manage the Environment & Sustainability Performance of the Alliance. You will also ensure that appropriate assurance is in place to support delivery on site by engaging with the Site Delivery team. Collaborating with various key stakeholders you will ensure all environment and sustainability commitments from the SZC Client are smoothly integrated into the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) and the SZC Design Supply Chain, including those related to Sizewell C's Environmental Licenses, Permits, Consents, Development Consent Order (DCO), and broader ESG commitments.

  • Making sure the CWA and SZC Design Supply Chain are effectively implementing their Level 0 (Self Checking) Assurance processes in alignment with environmental and sustainability standards.
  • Offering advice and guidance to the CWP, CWA, and SZC Design Supply Chain on environmental and sustainability obligations, while leveraging support from the broader SZC Client organisation as needed. You'll also help identify risks, issues, and opportunities in these areas.
  • Overseeing the monitoring and reporting of construction-related environmental permits, consents, and licenses within the CWP.
  • Supporting the design, procurement, and delivery processes as needed to ensure environmental, decommissioning, and sustainability requirements are well considered.
  • Providing leadership in environment and sustainability to both the Client Organisation and the CWA, coordinating technical advice and strategies to ensure compliance with the work being carried out.
  • You'll be degree qualified or equivalent in an environmental, science, engineering or related discipline coupled with experience of operating within an environmental management system (EMS) conforming to recognised standards (BS EN ISO14001:2004), including the development of procedures to meet the requirements of the EMS.
  • An understanding of the requirements and arrangements needed to deliver compliance with environmental permits, licences, and consents.

Good Problem Solving and Organisational Skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate excellent communication/interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • A well-developed skillset with regards to the communication with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to see projects through from start to finish.
