Full Job Description

We are recruiting an Environmental Health Specialist Lead within the Environmental Health Service at Rochdale BC.

As the Environmental Health Specialist Lead you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and management of the Environmental Protection and Health Protection team. This is a new role following a recent review of these work areas, and provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for the successful candidate to lead on a wide range of environmental protection and health protection work and also lead a team of professional officers. The team is responsible the enforcement of environmental health and public health legislation including noise, air pollution, air quality, environmental permits, private water supplies, contaminated land, planning consultations, infectious diseases, filthy verminous premises, premises disrepair, public health funerals, pest control and stray dogs.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated Environmental Health Officer, or person with relevant qualifications to lead the team, with a passion and pride in their work.

You will have relevant experience of working in an Environmental Health service, and a good working knowledge of the legislation, guidance and practice in relation to these work areas.

You will have the ability to manage a team of officers, manage a busy workload and deliver to tight deadlines. You will be able to lead on complex field duties and proactive advice, including planning applications for environmental protection matters.
