Environmental Engineer - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 422nd Civil Engineering Squadron, RAF Croughton We are looking for someone with professional knowledge and skill in environmental engineering practices and processes to provide effective management and directorship of the administrative, financial and technical aspects of the assigned environmental program. You will provide direct mission support to host and tenant organizations at the Installation. Why RAF Croughton: Located in the heart of Northamptonshire, RAF Croughton is home to the 422nd Civil Engineering Squadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for Providing extensive environmental expertise to support assigned environmental projects through application of professional knowledge and skill in environmental engineering practices and processes. You will be responsible for executing assigned projects, inhouse and by contract, to comply with all applicable Federal, state, and local environmental laws and policies. In addition, you will coordinate curricula and training for assigned program areas at the installation and maintain and update associated electronic databases for programs management, utilizing available resources to ready the arrival and implementation of new database requirements . Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Monday-Friday, 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
You will need knowledge of US Air Force environmental engineering principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned projects and on how to troubleshoot environmental engineering problems requiring investigation of unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned projects. In addition, a knowledge of applicable UK, UK FGS, Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices is needed. The ability to establish effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy is necessary. Qualification requirements:
- Must possess a degree or, NVQ/SVQ Level 6 or, HNC/HND in the relevant field and be able to demonstrate specialized engineering work experience.
- A valid UK Driving License - Category B
- Will be required to obtain job-related certifications such as HAZWOPER, DOT, HAZWASTE, and/or RPM. Certificates and licenses must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. You will be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency or spill. May be called in after hours to respond to spill or environmental incident. Special safety precautions such as protective clothing and gear are necessary. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
