Full Job Description

As an Environmental Technician, you'll have the unique opportunity to work closely with Alastair Rose, our Senior Geologist, who will mentor and guide you as you develop your expertise. This hands-on experience, combined with our commitment to professional development, will equip you with the tools to progress and thrive throughout your career.,

  • Design and conduct groundwater and surface water sampling and monitoring activities across various sites, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards.

  • Gather, record, and process field data, contributing to environmental assessments, flood risk evaluations, and water management projects.

  • Supervise subcontractors, including drillers, on-site to ensure adherence to project specifications, health and safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee and execute test pumping operations for boreholes, ensuring proper procedure and data accuracy during the assessment of groundwater resources.

  • Ensure all field equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in optimal working condition to guarantee the quality of collected data.

  • Work closely with clients during site visits, maintaining professionalism, and providing clear communication about field activities and project progress.

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations while on-site, ensuring safe working conditions for yourself and others.

    A BSc in an environmental/earth sciences field, equivalent apprenticeship or experience.

  • Previous experience in a field-based role within environmental consulting or water management is advantageous but not essential. Candidates are asked to demonstrate an appreciation of how transferable experience applies.

  • A positive, self-starting, and flexible attitude with a genuine interest in learning and growth.

  • A passion for hands-on work and a meticulous approach to data collection and reporting with experience in Excel and ArcGIS desirable.

  • A willingness and desire to travel throughout the UK for site work, coupled with a positive attitude and a passion for exploring new locations.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.

  • A full UK Driving License is essential.

    Salary Commensurate with Experience
    Location Melbourne, Derbyshire, UK

  • A salary in the region of £25,000 to £28,000 dependent on experience.

  • Permanent contract, working 40 hours per week within Monday to Friday.
