Full Job Description
The role of the Chartered Environmental Waste Assistant will be varied, with no two days being the same. Your time will be split between office and site, and you will be allowed to work on various waste streams, including sewage grit, sewage screenings, chemicals, spent activated carbon, and much more. What you will be doing as a Chartered Environmental Waste Assistant
- Ensuring Thames Water meets its legal requirements about waste through undertaking audits and reporting for "The Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment, 2013" and "The Waste Batteries & Accumulators, 2009".
- We advise and guide operational teams and other internal departments.
- Management of Thames Water's internal free cycle operation "Green Tag" enables our operational teams to reuse and recycle items across the business.
- Classification of waste in line with the Gov.UK Technical Guidance WM3.
- Creation and implementation of waste management processes and procedures.
- Collate, analyse and present waste data.
- Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met within Company and legal frameworks. Location - Based in Slough Distribution Centre. Working Hours - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week.
- Chartered Institute of Water Management (CIWM) is essential.
- Understanding of waste disposal legislation.
- A valid UK Driving Licence is required as you may be asked to visit multiple different Thames Water sites.
- Collaborative skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in undertaking audits and site inspections. This will relate to our waste duty of care audits.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confidence in presenting presentations.
- Data management and analysis.
- Familiarity with codes of practice or guidelines within the waste management industry is desirable.
