Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse who would like to develop their knowledge and skills within Epilepsy Specialist Nursing.

We would welcome candidates who are currently working at a Band 5 level, who feel that they are ready for their next progressive step in their nursing career or current Band 6s who would like to enhance their epilepsy knowledge. This role has clearly defined competences within which you will be well supported in developing.

You will aim to be working as an independent practitioner and collaboratively with the Band 7 Epilepsy lead with a shared caseload, providing holistic, evidenced based practice to patients with a diagnosis of Epilepsy, at all stages throughout their disease process. Responsibilities will also include providing education and support to patients, carers and colleagues.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be seeking to ensure the appropriate support is available to all patients. The team works closely with colleagues across Wye Valley Trust to ensure seamless care for patients.

This is a countywide service therefore holding a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Main duties of the job

As an integral part of the team the post holder will work independently and collaboratively with the Band 7 Epilepsy lead. Providing assessment, support planning and interventions to meet the person's needs in the community ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.

This will be delivered via urgent care, planned outpatient interventions, as well as supporting A&E colleagues. There also will be an opportunity to deliver education for, people with epilepsy, their carer's and staff members.

As a service we are innovative, forward thinking and encourage staff engagement. You will have the opportunity to be involved in service / quality improvement and develop leadership skills.
