Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) with specialist knowledge in Epilepsy. The Epilepsy Nurse is based within the Dudley Learning Disability Specialist Health Services at the Ridge Hill Centre.

The Epilepsy Nurse works in close partnership with primary, secondary and tertiary care services, to provide active support to people with Learning Disabilities who also have epilepsy.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will carry their own caseload and will have responsibility for carrying out nursing and risk assessments of adults with epilepsy and for developing epilepsy management plans and emergency protocols.

The post holder will also be expected to offer individual support for appointments with tertiary services and to attend regional epilepsy nurse meetings/educational programmes, so although core hours will normally be 08.30 till 16.30 Monday and Tuesday, the post holder will also need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service.

The post holder will be expected to be able to plan and deliver relevant training and education to families and social care staff.
