Full Job Description

This role is for a diligent EPR Analyst to join the North Thames Genomics team for a 12-month fixedterm contract to support the Alpha phase of a National Genomic order management system.

Currently genomic test requests vary nationally. Whilst some regions have incorporated electronictest requests, predominantly most requesters rely on paper-based processes. The NHS England Genomics Unit (NHSE GU) have an ambition to introduce an electronic ordermanagement system. It is envisaged this system will include the transfer of data between the orderingorganisation and the organisation where the lab is based via a 'central broker'. This includes placingthe order in the home EPR system, the delivery of the test request to the laboratory where thegenomic testing will be done, sample status, test status updates and delivery of the report(s).

The EPR Analyst will play a crucial role in developing the EPR/ LIMS for the Trust in order to connect with the central broker. It is a very exciting time to join the Trust and be part of the first ever national electric test ordering system for genomics.

Genetics is a rapidly expanding and innovative area of medicine, underpinning new treatments, technologies, and approaches to managing patients with a wide variety including cancer, rare diseases and common conditions such as hypercholesterolaemia. Over time, genomics will inform more and more treatment decisions made by clinicians.

NHS England's ambition is to enable the NHS to harness the power of genomic technology and science to be the first national health care system to offer consistent and equitable genomic testing for the people of England. To deliver this commitment and application of genomic technologies NHS Englandestablished a network of 7 Genomic Medicine Services (GMSs) comprised of a Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH) and partner Genomic Medicine Service Alliances (GMSA)., GOSH is committed to recruiting the best person for the job, based solely on their ability and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the role; through a process that is fair, open, consistent and free from bias and discrimination.
