Full Job Description

  • Asist the Diversity Equality Action Team (DEAT) in achieving its objectives.

  • To bring actual or potential problems to the attention of the Equalities and Chaplaincy Manager.

  • To carry out investigations in Equalities complaints as directed by the Equalities and Chaplaincy Manager.

  • Oversee the running of the PC Forums and provide support to staff as and when needed.

  • To ensure that Equality data is accurately recorded and stored.

  • To assist with the planning and execution of Equalities Awareness Days.

  • To always ensure that all records are complete and to enter all details on relevant computer systems, and appropriate local recording systems, including manual and electronic files.

  • To work as part of the team in an efficient and professional manner.

  • To foster good relations throughout the establishment.

  • To maintain working relationships with all other departments and outside agencies

  • Offer advice and support on all equality related policies and matters.

  • To have an understanding of all relevant procedures and provide help and support in all areas of the function as required.

  • To demonstrate a positive attitude to change and show flexibility in the work place.

  • To ensure a high level of security and confidentiality is maintained in relation to staff and prisoners, and that all information, both written and verbal, is treated confidentially.

    Good computer skills including knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook applications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including good verbal and written communication.

  • Able to demonstrate resilience with a basic understanding of both conflict resolution and de-escalation and risk and conflict management.

  • Commitment to working effectively in a socially diverse environment, with a good team ethic.

  • Excellent time management

  • Assertive, creative and progressive along with good problem solving skills.

    Serco cares for up to 1160 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 serving a range of sentences including trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving long and short-term sentences.
