Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic - If you are a dedicated and skilled Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron, RAF Lakenheath We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify, and maintain a variety of types of heavy mobile and automotive equipment. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness, You will be responsible for performing heavy mobile mechanic work that includes troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repairs required, repairing, and maintaining vehicles including but not limited to forklifts, tow tractors, trucks, tractors and trailers, buses, ambulances, pickup trucks, sedans, and hybrid vehicles. You will use diagnostic tools, orders parts, complete documentation, and provide training and assistance to others, whilst always utilizing safe practices and procedures. For this position you will be require passing a pre-employment physical. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 0700-1530 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies., You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You must receive training on the handling and disposition of hazardous materials. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.

As the Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic, you will be required to hold an NVQ level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and repair, Automotive Maintenance and Repair or similar . You will have the knowledge of a variety of types of heavy and light vehicles and vehicular equipment sufficient to troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, modify, tear down/rebuild, and maintain systems and components as well as the knowledge of safety practices and procedures and environmental directives pertaining to handling hazardous materials. You will show skill in troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in a variety of types of heavy and light vehicles and vehicular equipment and skill in using a variety of hand and power tools, measuring instruments, and diagnostic test equipment. You will have the ability to interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals, technical specifications, schematics, safety manuals, and similar guides sufficient to effectively maintain, repair, overhaul, and tear down/rebuild equipment components and systems as well as the ability to communicate effectively, provide training to others, and maintain records. Qualification requirements:

  • UK Certification requirements of Level 3 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or Level
  • 3 National Diploma, or equivalent. - NVQ level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and repair, Automotive Maintenance and Repair or similar .
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle; a valid Category B driver's
  • license is required. Certificates must be submitted for your application to be valid.
