Full Job Description

  • Lead ESG data modelling and target setting - for sustainability initiatives, net zero trajectory and SBTi; TCFD climate-scenario analysis and emerging ESG regulations: EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD); International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB); UK Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) and the EU/UK Taxonomies
  • Share ESG data trends, insights and learnings - with Group and regional teams to accelerate progress, mitigate risks and leverage commercial opportunities.
  • ESG data collection and reporting
  • ESG data reporting - collate, cleanse and verify ESG data from RS 100+ sites to provide accurate, high quality and timely ESG data to support the Group's quarterly, half-yearly and annual reporting requirements.
  • Sustainability metrics and carbon accounting - including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reporting
  • Customer and supplier ESG reporting - develop methodologies, systems and reports to add value to our stakeholder partnerships.
  • Data architecture, governance and controls
  • ESG data governance - establish and maintain a system of governance and controls e.g. data quality, data dictionary, data architecture, metrics standards & definitions, rebaselining and restatement principles etc. and feed into the externally disclosed 'basis of reporting'.
  • ESG system and internal capability
  • Manage ESG data management platform - implement the final stage set-up, roll-out and maintenance of a new (external) ESG data management system (DMS) across RS Group and its 100+ sites. Utilise full reporting and analytics capability and adopt a CI approach.
  • Internal training, skills and capability development - lead an internal training programme to ensure full and accurate adoption of the new ESG data management system.
  • ESG data community of practice - create a community of ESG data best practice and co-ordinate adoption with other business intelligence leads across the Group.

    We're seeking an individual with strong data and analytics capability and an ability to transform our data and reporting processes to make them more efficient, effective and automated. You will have a drive for rigour, efficiency, and improvement; a willingness to embrace future technologies and data techniques and a passion for sustainability - all supported by a growth mindset., Experienced in financial and/or sustainability data accounting, reporting, modelling, analytics for multi-site global organisation across a broad range of ESG metrics.
  • Experience of ESG systems, data and data flows/architecture - ideally using an external, web-based data management solution to manage multi-site, multi-KPI ESG reporting.
  • Experienced in global carbon accounting for Scopes 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Experience of net zero modelling would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of data visualisation & dashboarding tools (e.g. Tableau, Domo, Power BI or similar), with advanced data and analytical capability:
  • Familiar with statistics, regression, deviation, proportional factors
  • Effective report design and construction
  • Interpretation of data to identify anomalies and spot trends
  • Experience of handling and manipulating large datasets
  • High level of commercial awareness with ability to translate complex data sets and trends into simple summaries and actionable initiatives which improve business strategy and offer commercial opportunities
  • Self-starter who will take initiative and work across the matrix regardless of reporting lines. Resilient and persistent in pursuit of the data.
  • Experience working in a global organisation and communicating with, influencing and adapting your style to suit colleagues from a broad range of countries, cultures and different languages.

Deploying a new, audit-grade ESG data management platform, you will be responsible for collating, cleansing and reporting all ESG metrics across 100+ global RS sites to support acceleration of our 2030 ESG plan action plan goals, internal performance management and external disclosure requirements. You will use utilise your full data & analytics capability to model the Group's net zero trajectory and granular sustainability targets, conduct climate-scenario analysis and comply with other emerging ESG compliance.
