Assala Energy, a leading oil and gas exploration and production company operating in Gabon, is deeply committed to responsible operations and the continuous advancement of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. In line with our steadfast dedication to sustainability and corporate responsibility, we are seeking an ESG Reporting Lead to join our HSSE team in London. This critical role will spearhead the development and implementation of our ESG reporting strategies, ensuring that Assala Energy remains at the cutting edge of industry standards and best practices.

The ESG Reporting Lead will play a key role in shaping and executing Assala Energy's ESG reporting framework. In this position, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across our UK and Gabon operations, ensuring that our ESG reporting not only aligns with global best practices but also upholds the highest standards of transparency and accountability. Your contributions will be pivotal in deepening the company's understanding of sustainability issues and driving continuous improvement in ESG performance. Your responsibilities will include:

Industry Research & Benchmarking:

  • Monitor and assess global and industry ESG reporting standards.

  • Benchmark Assala's ESG reports against industry counterparts.

  • Participate in industry working groups and stay informed on relevant sustainability frameworks such as IPIECA, GRI, and TCFD.


  • ESG Report Development:

  • Lead the production of Assala's annual ESG report, including drafting content and coordinating with internal teams.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Legal, and HR to ensure ESG strategies align with current reporting trends.

  • Develop and manage specific KPIs that drive ESG performance improvements.


  • Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with internal teams to raise awareness and understanding of ESG topics.

  • Coordinate with the Communications team to manage the design, translation, and publication of the annual ESG report.

  • Ensure quality control of all ESG data and content published in the report.


  • Continuous Improvement & Compliance:

  • Propose and implement enhancements to our ESG reporting processes.

  • Support annual ESG-assurance audits and risk rating exercises.

  • Assist in ESG-related multimedia content creation and ensure it is effectively communicated both internally and externally.

    To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong skills in editing and conducting research.

  • A proven track record in project management.

  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accuracy.

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Highly organized with the ability to plan and prioritize effectively.

  • Experienced in working within diverse, multicultural environments with a collaborative and supportive approach towards team members and departments.

  • Have a friendly, and approachable personality with a strong focus on effective communication.

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate activity and sustainability issues, specifically in the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors.

  • Capable of working independently and producing high-quality work.

  • Adept at managing and prioritizing conflicting projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Fluent in both French and English.
