Full Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Strategic Property for an Estates Surveyor to join a group of professionals within the Council's Estates Team. Tameside is a place that's perfectly positioned for growth. Ideally located between the bustling hub of Manchester and the stark beauty of the Peak District National Park, we offer an ideal location for easy access to the city and the countryside. And with some of the largest pockets of land in the Greater Manchester area available for development, it really is a fantastic canvas for regeneration and growth. The Council's property estate is extensive and diverse which includes 2,979 interests comprising 482 operational assets including town halls, libraries, schools, depots, community buildings, sports grounds and parks. Plus the non-operational and investment estate comprising 1,470 assets including surplus buildings and land, leased land and buildings, industrial estates, sports clubs and shopping centres. The role offers the opportunity to join an experienced team of professionals in a flexible hybrid working environment that will require attendance at site locations across the Borough. About You Reporting to the Senior Estates Surveyor you will be a core part of the Council's Estates Service. You will deliver an effective estate management and valuation service for the Council, specialising in property and strategic asset management. Ensuring that the Council grows its real estate portfolio income and delivering key services to residents. The post holder should have previous experience of mixed portfolios, maximising revenues and taking strategic decisions to the benefit of the Estate. An understanding of inward investment and regeneration would be beneficial, but not essential. As a member of the Estates Team and the wider Strategic Property Service you will play a key role in the delivery of Council and Place Directorate priorities. You will support the implementation of a Strategic Asset Management Plan and delivery of all the Council's projects and programmes. With your advanced theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge and experience in relation to a whole range of property issues covering buildings, investment assets and land, you should have experience in successful property negotiations and be able to work at pace with enthusiasm and professionalism whilst engaging with and influencing key stakeholders.

Our employees' skills, experience and knowledge are essential to our success along with their happiness, wellbeing, commitment, enthusiasm and motivation to be the best they can be.
