Event Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for an Event Manager to join our team at The Royal Armouries. As a key member of the Operations Team, you will report into the Senior Event Manager, and be responsible for ensuring that we are delivering the best possible service across all of our events.

This is a hands-on role, your overall responsibility will be delivering excellent service in a fast-paced quality C&E operations with key segments of weddings, client events and small meetings, ensuring the highest standards and customer service.

You will work closely with clients, event organisers and colleagues to drive an excellent level of Food, Beverage and Service delivery. Building positive relationships with existing and potential clients in a commercial manner, ensuring compliance and company policies are adhered to. Purpose of the role:

• Oversee the delivery of all C&E bookings making sure we upsell and fully understand the C&E requirements


• Work with other departments to support the smooth running of all aspects of the event

• Lead and manage a large variable team


• Train, develop and upskill the team and looking at PDP to ensure we promote and grow within


• Compile rotas in line with budget and business needs making sure we are not over or understaffed


• Create/adapt SOPs to changing business requirements


• Manage customer feedback forum and put action plans together


• Will be required to undertake Duty Manager shifts, as part of the senior management team


• Maintain a professional relationship with the internal teams to ensure the smooth running of the C&E department.


• Building relationships with external suppliers


• Maintaining the Health and Safety standards for the safe handling of food, and the correct use and storage of equipment/ facilities


More about the role:


• You will be responsible for day-to-day conference and events business liaising with the client on the day to ensure the operation is delivered to the highest standards and leading the team to ensure all aspects of the event preparation and catering delivery are met.


• To liaise with the Events Planning team to ensure all events are planned for and delivered to the highest standard.


• To exceed customer and client expectations by demonstrating a positive and flexible attitude to requests, especially under pressure


• Ensuring all conferences are fully set and that adequate staff are on site before guests arrive.
  
  You will have a background in catering or events


• You will have knowledge of the food and beverage industry and extensive experience in a demanding, high volume, multipurpose venue


• Strong focus for management of budgets, labour costs and delivering against sales and profit targets


• Organised with a keen attention to detail


• Professional and appropriate personal presentation, face to face and telephone manner


• Confident, enthusiastic and outgoing


• Demonstrate personal drive and a positive approach


• Possess quick problem-solving skills to manage changing situations, within events


• Be a strong communicator across all mediums


• Ability to be flexible with working hours based on client needs and available to work unsociable hours, as required by events


• Proven experience in venue front and back of house duties


• Proven experience in managing a team
