Full Job Description
Berkshire autism charity Prior's Court is seeking an Events & Community Engagement Officer to take the lead on managing our calendar of annual events - and also explore opportunities to spread awareness of our work supporting autistic young people with complex needs. Sitting within our Marketing & Communications team, the Events and Community Engagement Officer will be tasked with providing a professional approach to our range of events throughout the calendar year.,
- To provide administrative organisational support for our four major annual events - music festival, a staff awards ceremony, World Autism Acceptance Week and our four-week-long "Summer of Fun" event for the young people we support. You will report to an "event lead" for these events who will guide and support you - this may change as your experience and knowledge of our organisation grows.
- To be the main organiser of smaller regular events. This includes staff recognition events, staff engagement events, networking events for corporate supporters, community engagement events (e.g. externally hosted summer fairs), events involving the whole Prior's Court community of staff and families of the young people we support (Bonfire Night, Christmas Carol Concerts etc.), attendance at autism/special educational needs industry events, and fundraising events (off-site music concerts).
- To provide support to our team of autism experts with organising specific events for the autistic young people we support - such as Halloween Trick or Treating, Santa's Grottos, an Easter Egg Hunt and more.
- To react proactively to ad-hoc unscheduled organisational events/ those not in the pre-existing annual events calendar.
- Arrange for all events to be staffed to an appropriate level by appropriate Prior's Court staff members. E.g. autism specialists for attendance at autism industry events or office staff supporting the running of special events on-site.
- Secure competitive quotes for third-party contractors for events, where required, and manage relationships with third-party suppliers. See the job description for a full list of responsibilities. There is also the potential for growth in the role to be the lead on the delivery of our range of events for the autistic young people with complex needs we support. This gives you the opportunity to learn more about autism, learning disabilities and complex needs.
- 33 days annual leave, including Bank Holidays.
- Company pension (Combined 8% contributions - Employer 5%, Employee 3%).
- Employee Recognition Schemes, including an annual staff awards programme and Long Service Awards.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- Access to our full Flexible Benefits package including the option of dental insurance, private medical insurance, critical illness, increased life insurance, partner life insurance self-funded health cash plan and many others.
This role would be ideal for an experienced events management experience looking for a position without regular weekend working. Or, it may be suitable for a person with burgeoning events knowledge looking for a role in the charity.
