Full Job Description
This post will join the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre (WHOCC) on Investment for Health and Well-being, specifically its Public Health Value and Economic team. The team develops and disseminates evidence to make the case for investing in prevention and public health, by collectively illustrating the social, economic and environmental value of public health programmes using social value methodologies. The skill set required for this post includes well-developed evidence review and research skills, as well as a good understanding of project management and a basic understanding of (public) health economics with an interest to developing these skills further. You will form part of the team that is working towards demonstrating and measuring the social value of public health with an emphasis on equity and prevention. The post is expected to support the delivery of activities under that programme of work including research and advocacy by building tools and the evidence base to inform investment decisions for public health. One of the main responsibilities will be to deliver activities under a joint project with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Comprehensive Immunization Special Program (CIM) on The Social Value of Immunization. Main duties of the job o Undertake literature searches and evidence reviews/syntheses working with internal and external partners as needed; o Translate research findings for a range of (international) audiences into actionable public health action and practice, including the public and decision-makers; o Apply strong quantitative/ qualitative skills to research in practice, working with others with specialist expertise;o Identify and become skilled in new or emerging research or evaluation approaches in relation to social value that can be adopted within the PAHO Region; o Produce a range of published outputs that will be accessible to policy-makers and practitioners, often to tight timelines including academic publications

- Educated to Degree Level or equivalent level of skills and knowledge in a health, social, geographical or science related subject.
- To provide specialist knowledge and expertise of evidence synthesise/ analytical techniques and procedures, to internal and external stakeholders. EXPERIENCE Essential
- Experience in conducting research projects in a field related to public health, such as immunisation.
- Experience of working with a range of partner organisations relevant to public health policy nationally and internationally.
- A proven track-record of managing projects and delivering against targets. SKILLS Essential
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Presentation skills using different formats, in formal and informal settings.
- Excellent research methods (qualitative and quantitative) including data collection, analysis and synthesis including systematic reviews and questionnaires.
- Ability to analyse and interpret different forms of data using a variety of software packages.
- Ability to produce a range of published outputs that will be accessible to policy-makers and practitioners., Knowledge of different research and evaluation approaches, including health economics.
- Knowledge of Research governance, Data Protection and Information Governance
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis packages and qualitative software., Self-motivated, pro-active and an ability to overcome barriers.
