Full Job Description

At Blackpool Sixth College, an outstanding provider of 16-19 education, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Examinations Officer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of examinations within our thriving and highly successful college community. This is an exciting time to join us, as qualifications, examinations, and assessments are evolving rapidly, and advancing technology is reshaping how exams are delivered. Our challenge is to stay ahead of these changes, embracing fresh and innovative solutions to ensure we continue providing exceptional service to our students and staff. Experience of working in an examinations department would be advantageous, but not essential, as training would be provided to the successful candidate. A day in Examinations could see you:

  • communicating with many stakeholders including students, college-wide staff, parents/carers and awarding bodies whilst delivering a high-quality examinations service across the college,
  • assisting with the creation of examination entries and qualification registrations,
  • overseeing the operational arrangements of an exam session, including organisation of exam papers, managing students arriving, supporting invigilators preparing for an exam, sending scripts to the awarding body,
  • supervising the receipt of coursework from curriculum departments for submission to awarding bodies.

Do you have strong organisational and time management skills? Do you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills? Do you have the ability to work effectively as part of a team and on your own initiative in a fast-paced environment? If this sounds like you, we want to hear from you!

Our people are extremely important to us and we are therefore delighted to provide the following benefits:-
  • Cycle to work scheme for contracts over 12 months
  • Free use of the college gym
  • Generous pension contribution for support staff
  • Education specific learning and development
  • Free car parking
  • Subsidised Costa Coffee on site and a wide range of catering outlets
  • An in house People & Wellbeing site with loads of self-help guidance
  • Access to wellbeing and counselling services for you and your family
  • Wellbeing day on Wednesday 14th February 2025 with the full day off for all
  • 15 hours of gifted TOIL (pro-rata) to use for flexibility throughout the year
  • Further details about the role
