Full Job Description

The Executive Director, Global Credit Finance ("GCF") is a key member of a team that manages a multi-billion dollar portfolio of collateral assets comprised of Middle Market, Private Credit and Broadly Syndicated Loans. In this role, you will be responsible for staying up to date and providing commentary on the loan market generally, conducting collateral portfolio reviews, providing input into deal structuring as it relates to collateral assets, approving collateral assets for inclusion in financing facilities and conducting fundamental credit analysis of loans with a particular focus on the European loan market.

You will be part of a tight-knit deal team that provides financing facilities to marquee private lenders, large asset managers and sophisticated pension fund clients.,

  • Contribute to growth in the GCF credit financing business for our core and target clients.

  • Provide input into decisions on which new loan financing mandates to pursue.

  • Approve or escalate credit assets for inclusion in existing facilities in accordance with established procedures.

  • Provide a view on initial loan marks and ongoing re-valuation of loans to ensure borrowing base valuations remain appropriate and in accordance with terms of loan documents.

  • Conduct more detailed fundamental credit analysis of higher risk collateral assets.

  • Complete periodic portfolio reviews for existing transactions.

  • Remain current on industry and economic developments to understand potential impact on portfolio loans.

  • Work in the spirit of transparency and collaboration with our partners in Capital Markets Risk Management, Treasury, Accounting, Tax and Legal.

  • Demonstrate a keen understanding of current and developing regulatory issues, as well as CIBC policies, guidelines and procedures.

  • Work effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies to ensure that all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered.

    Credit professional with 10+ years of leveraged lending/corporate credit risk management/portfolio credit/loan workout experience

  • Extensive knowledge of European private credit and broadly syndicated loan markets

  • Credit risk management mindset with the ability to identify and assess factors that can lead to credit deterioration coupled with the ability to work with our clients to help them achieve their objectives
