Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Vice-Chancellor's Office as an Executive Support Officer to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost. The role will provide high level support to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost including proactive diary management, committee servicing, tracking actions, preparing presentations, briefings and reports, undertaking research and problem solving and managing small improvement projects.
The Vice-Chancellor's Office is part of the University's Strategy and Governance Directorate, which brings together Governance, Business Resilience and high level administrative, policy, and strategic support services for the Vice-Chancellor's Executive and the Board of Governors. This includes executive support, strategy development, risk management, business continuity planning, major incident response and freedom of information.
Working within the Strategy and Governance Directorate, the role carries a broad and varied remit and would suit applicants who are keen to develop a professional career within a higher education.

The successful candidate must have relevant administrative and executive support experience including complex diary management.
In this fast paced and varied role you will be able to assess and prioritise tasks effectively and be comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines.
You will be proactive in your approach and be able to work with minimum supervision.
You will need to be able to negotiate and influence and manage any potential conflicting priorities, which will require tact and diplomacy. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be comfortable working alongside senior leaders. You will be able to build and maintain good working relationships and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
You will be privy to sensitive and confidential information and will be required to work with complete discretion.
A high level of IT skills will be required, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint and Outlook.
You will be expected to contribute to the development of best practices across the university, to meet the continually evolving business needs of the university and act as an ambassador of good practice.
Previous experience providing executive support to senior leaders will be an advantage.

This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week based on-campus with some flexibility for hybrid working. Interviews will take place 15 January 2025.
