Full Job Description

The MSK Physiotherapy Service in Bath and North East Somerset are looking for passionate individuals to join us to undertake this key role and provide excellent care and support to service users. We are looking for experienced Exercise Instructors on a part time basis to support our Osteoarthritis Pathway and Physiotherapy Service, this position is primarily to support our Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis Pathway, which provides education, advice and exercise to people over a 12 week period. You will also be involved with rehabilitation for back pain, post-operative rehabilitation and other musculoskeletal problems. This will include some online/virtual classes and appointments. This is a part time opportunity working 18.75 hours across Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You will be based at Keynsham Health Centre but there may be requirement to travel to our other bases in Paulton Hospital and St Martins Hospital.Main Responsibility

  • Set up and run a number of exercise programs in various locations, including virtual classes.
  • Have an active role in booking patient appointments for the OA pathway, 1:1 sessions and classes
  • Accept delegated tasks from the team leader or senior physiotherapist.
  • Manage & prioritise own caseload without direct supervision but with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Use judgement and initiative to produce exercise programmes, develop them and see them through to completion.
  • Evaluate outcomes and produce discharge reports.
  • Liaise with external agencies as appropriate.

    We are looking for someone with experience of working in the field of healthcare but more importantly is having the willingness to learn and the enthusiasm to make a difference.
  • We will expect you to be highly motivated, passionate about health and exercise, creative and committed to your own continuous professional development. You will also need to be able to work under pressure and have a good understanding of providing person-centered support. You will also need to be confident using IT systems and be able to demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel.,
  • Registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 3, and /or a Sports Science degree
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate effective team working skills.
  • Good levels of IT literacy including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience and understanding of providing support and interactive training to group participants, colleagues and professional groups.
  • Confidence to work using own initiative under some supervision.
  • Experience of developing relationships with external agencies and organisations (partnership working)
  • An understanding of the legislation that applies to care and health work.

  • Experience of working in a support practitioner role.
  • Experience of working in a health care setting.
  • Experience of explaining information to a range of work colleagues.
